Rotterdam born, Amsterdam based Arp Frique has been a longtime member of the Rush Hour family, kicking off his career with his single “Nos Magia” which was shortlisted for Track of the Year 2017 at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards and has been given airplay by BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and NTS whilst star DJs like Peggy Gou, Antal, Floating Points and Hunee have all supported his tracks in their sets.
The name “Arp Frique” refers to the sound of the Arp synths/his love for analog vintage machines and is also a reference to Chic’s ‘Le Freak’, showing love to the genre of disco and deep danceable music from our entire world. Besides releasing his own string of dancefloor underground hits, he started building a name as a selector through his compilations “Radio Verde”, a compilation of rare Cape Verdean dancefloor diamonds and “Radio Familia”, unearthing rare gems from Ghana and Cape Verde. This quickly caught the attention of the clubscene which resulted in DJ-sets at Best Kept Secret, Flow Festival Helsinki b2b with Coco Maria, the 25-yr anniversary of Rush Hour clubtour, Dekmantel Connects and Renate in Berlin to name a few. In his DJ-sets, Arp Frique prefers to kick in high energy and end full raving but totally organic, with a high dose of rare disco and other assorted rarities.
