Based in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, El Mágico Baobab is an authentic Colombian soundsystem, known as a ‘picó.’ After years of research and building connections, El Mágico Baobab began to take shape towards the end of 2022. Picó sound systems can be experienced in Caribbean coastal cities such as Barranquilla, Cartagena, and Santa Marta. These picó soundsystems bring vibrancy to the streets and contribute to the rich culture of these cities. The hand-painted fluorescent designs on these massive sound systems are unique to this region. As of the beginning of 2023, this original, handmade soundsystem has made its way to Europe.
What sets El Mágico Baobab apart is the collaboration with renowned artist William Guitterez Peñaloza, who is considered a master in this style. The sound system proudly showcases his original artwork.
The sound system comes with at least two deejays, playing all kinds of Latin and Caribbean music. But in consultation other deejays or artists can be added too.
El Mágico Baobab can host an afternoon, an evening, a day or even several days. You can consider it as an extra stage on your festival or event. We are flexible and open to your ideas and/or propositions.
