“Djiyo” is the second chapter of the brilliant collaboration between Ablaye Cissoko, international griot and kora master (20+ years of career, 15 albums, 1M monthly streams on Spotify), and Cyrille Brotto, a leading figure in diatonic accordion in France.
After a critically acclaimed first album and over a hundred concerts around the world, they return with a captivating new fusion of Mandingue traditions and European music. The album released on January 24, and already reached 100K streams in the first 10 days. The duo has also just started with their new world tour consisting of 40 dates in 2025.
Nearly three years after their first release and over a hundred concerts worldwide (from Los Angeles to Marseille), Ablaye Cissoko reunites with the talented Cyrille Brotto for another masterful collaboration blending kora, vocals, and accordion.
Titled “Djiyo” (meaning “water”), this album flows like a river, uniting the lands it crosses, seamlessly merging Mandingue and Western traditions. In this intimate and spiritual musical journey, the two virtuosos reinvent their approach to their instruments, offering a luminous conversation tinged with melancholy, a poetic and intense dialogue, and a beautiful lesson in music and humanism.
